Ayr Harbour: Evening view of Ayr Harbour, with 'TS Duchess of Hamilton' back from the days cruise. The photograph is thought to date from August 1968.
Calais Depot : By 1967, the lovely Chapelon 231E’s were all retired from service, but there were still several classic SNCF Pacifics active on routes from Calais. 231G42, a Chapelon rebuild of an earlier PLM design, was photographed at Calais depot.
Princes Street [Tram]: Tram 261 calls at Princes Street stop, heading for the airport, on 22nd October 2021. Destination boards are now in use with the electronics playing up.
Kirkham and Wesham: Although seen here on Summer Saturday Blackpool passenger duties, 25151 had only five weeks of service left before withdrawal and scrapping. The BR Type 2 is between Salwick and Kirkham heading for the resort with a rake of MkI stock.
Marefield South Junction: I like walking around triangles. There is the tantalizing choice of which side to do first; especially if, like me, you are on a Railway Ramblers walk, with permission for all three. There is also a wonderful sense of completeness when you cover all three sides. The spur on the left went to Leicester Belgrave Road via Lowesby; the main line on the right led to John OGaunt viaduct, then to Bottesford, East of Nottingham, and all points North.
Clunes: 66746, in Belmond maroon livery, leads the 'Royal Scotsman' round the curve near Clunes on the way to Kyle of Lochalsh on 25th September 2021. Similar liveried 66743 was on the rear.
Burntisland East Dock: Bulk handling barges Nos 5 & 6 moored at Burntisland in 1986. These and others were used for bringing Bauxite ore to the dockside from large ships in the Forth estuary. By this time the ore was loaded by the cranes onto lorries rather than rail wagons and the dockside tracks had been lifted.
Telford Central: Colas Rail Freight 56096 passing Telford Central towards Shrewsbury with an engineering train on the evening of Saturday, 25th September 2021.
Arrochar and Tarbet: Lost Railfreight In a really heavy downpour 37410 'Aluminium 100' takes empty timber and aluminium slab wagons north through Arrochar and Tarbet station. #COP26
Rutherglen: The final service from Dalmuir Riverside, after arrival at Rutherglen on 3rd October 1964. The Central Low Level line closed to passenger traffic the next day. The locomotive was Standard 4 76074.
Preston: 37610 stands at the head of a Derby to Carlisle Network Rail test train waiting at signal PN124 on the Down Goods line, Preston on 26 October 2021. The building in the background is today North Union House and sat on platforms 1 and 2 prior to the 1970s platform renumbering. Photographed from the present day platform 1.
