Nawton: A short section of trackbed remains east of Nawton station, party in a shallow cutting and then on a low embankment up to where the solum has been obliterated across the section running towards the former Stoney Cross rail overbridge that crossed the A170 en route to Kirkbymoorside. This view in February 2021 looks in a westerly direction towards the former Nawton station a short distance ahead.

Great Ormesby: The former Great Ormesby station on 1st October 1977, a few weeks after the centenary of its opening. The elderly lady living there spotted me looking around for a vantage point and wasted no time in coming out to remind me it was private property. Happily, my girlfriend rescued the situation and we were invited in for tea. I ended up sat in an armchair under the ticket hatch, but had to wait very patiently for the photo opportunity, which was finally allowed just as the light was fading.

Tyldesley: A Vantage service from Manchester leaves Tyldesley, heading for Leigh, on the guided busway that uses the Tyldesley Loopline trackbed. The bus is passing through the site of the Tyldesley railway station, which closed in 1969, albeit the platforms may have been at a higher level. Note the car trap alongside preventing unauthorised access to the busway. To the right was once the St George's Bank Colliery, one of many in this area at the heart of the Lancashire coalfield. The Leigh Guided Busway opened in 2016 and provides a fast and frequent service into central Manchester.

Slochd Summit: 66304 and 66426 double head the southbound container train from Inverness to Mossend, away from Slochd Summit down towards Slochd Viaduct, on 8th February 2021. 66304 broke down the previous week, hence the double header on this day.

Westcraigs: Site of the former Westcraigs station in West Lothian, situated just over 2 miles west of Armadale on the Airdrie - Bathgate route. The line closed to all traffic in 1982 with the old trackbed later being turned into a public walkway (see image [[9677]]). Photograph taken looking east in August 2009, by which time preliminary work was underway on the Airdrie - Bathgate reopening project, with walkways having been commandeered for movement of construction equipment and materials.

Bury Bolton Street: With a splendid semaphore signal gantry in the background, BR 2-6-4T 80080 runs round at Bury Bolton Street after bringing in an East Lancs Railway train from Rawtenstall, on 5th April 2016. Services from Rawtenstall were terminating here on this day and not running on to Heywood, which was rather a disappointment.

Forsinard: View looking south from the level crossing at the platform end of Forsinard, showing the transition from twin track to single on the bend beyond the stop boards, and the engineers siding running off the north side platform line.
