Glasgow Central: Class 311 unit 110 arrives at Glasgow Central on a dull March day in 1974. Something may have been amiss with the pointwork as three staff with HV vests are studying the track beneath the train as it passes.

Pilmoor: View looking west south west from Sunbeck Crossing in May 2018, towards Sunbeck Junction on the line to Coxwold and Gilling East, which was one element of a triangle served by lines from Bishop House Junction (south) and Sessay Wood Junction (north) near Pilmoor on the East Coast Main Line. The junction is around 200 metres away, with a more recent farm building now sited alongside the south side of the junction proper, and the track serving it continuing part way along the south spur running towards Bishop House Junction.

Sheringham: The site of the former level crossing in a bleak and lifeless Sheringham on Sunday 4th December 1977. Gates, track and signal box have all gone and wasteland remains. On the far side of the road is the 1967 vintage Sheringham station, little more than a simple halt plus bus shelter since the crossing to the original station was closed. Fast forward to the 21st century and the gates, track and signal box magically reappear, courtesy of the North Norfolk railway. The Jolly Tar café (formerly the Gatehouse Café) stays with us in the time jump, but not so the Shoe Repair and Antiques shops which were demolished and replaced with offices.

Galgate: Most southbound TPEs from Glasgow and Edinburgh run through to Manchester or Liverpool but this Class 397, seen in the cutting at Hampson Lane near Galgate on 30th October 2020, was terminating at Preston.

Corkerhill: Platform view at Corkerhill station on the Paisley Canal branch looking west towards Mosspark in September 2012. By this time the headshunt had been extended (see image [[15833]]) to buffer stops beyond the road bridge (the boards behind the buffer stops include a blue band across the top stating 'Class 380'). Note also what appear to be old blast deflectors attached to the face of the bridge.

Kirkby: Having arrived a short time earlier, 142031 now waits at Kirkby on 11 March 2013 to form the 1332 hrs service back to Manchester Victoria. The line was originally a through line from Liverpool Exchange to Manchester via Wigan Wallgate but today the line is split with Merseyrail operating the services into Liverpool from the platform on the other side of the road bridge. 142031 was scrapped in Newport after withdrawal from service.
