Newtongrange [1st]: The 0947 ScotRail Tweedbank - Edinburgh passes through the site of the original Newtongrange station, shortly after leaving the current version on Sunday 30 August 2020. Shortly after rounding the curve up ahead the train will run out onto Newbattle Viaduct.

Notton and Royston: On the north west side of Bleakley Lane at the north boundary of Royston, South Yorkshire there is still an extant abutment from the former overbridge on the section of line between Notton and Staincross, as seen in this view looking south westerly in September 2020. Notton and Royston station was off to the left. In the mid 1960s the section of line running north west from Notton towards the bridge was used to house a lengthy rake of stored two axle mineral wagons

Heads of Ayr [2nd]: Extract from the Scottish Region timetable winter 1960-61 showing services in the north of Ayrshire. Heads of Ayr (for Butlins) got a Saturday only service - for exchange of prisoners - and was only served from June.

Enfield Chase: A rather grainy image of 313031, with a service from Moorgate to Stevenage via Hertford North, arriving at Enfield Chase in April 1977. The GNR's London Suburban services had been electrified a few months earlier on 8th November 1976. The 313 units would go on to serve London for over forty years.

Hillington West: On a frosty November morning in 1965, Britannia 70005 'John Milton' is not wasting any time as it takes the lightweight 9.00 Carlisle - Glasgow St Enoch along the fast line near Hillington West.

Ballynahinch: Ballynahinch station, on the Galway to Clifden Branch, seen on 8th March 2020. The entrance to the station house, now restored as a private home. The Connemara Greenway, the cycleway being built along much of the trackbed, diverts around the house. The line closed in 1935.

Glasgow Queen Street High Level: Alphabetical lists of departures are not common, and this one at the revamped Queen Street is probably the only one in Scotland. On 19 September 2020 about half of the destinations have 'Please enquire' next to them, meaning they have no direct service (or any service) due to various landslips several weeks previously.

Winchcombe: On a lovely sunny day GWR Hawksworth Modified Hall 4-6-0 7903 'Foremarke Hall' climbs near Winchcombe on the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway on 19th September 2020. There were plenty of sound effects from the loco but no visuals.

Galgate: Galgate station, at the top of this steep track on the outskirts of the village, was never going to compete with buses that stopped in the centre and it closed in 1939, along with three others between Lancaster and Preston. With all trace of the station cleared away many years ago this Network Rail sign, just beyond the access gate, is the only reference to what was once here. Distances on this stretch of the WCML are measured from Preston. 1st September 2020.

Kenyon Junction: There is very little to see at the former Kenyon Junction. The station closed in 1961, while the junction went with the Leigh line in 1969, but the original inter-city line, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway does continue in use. The view is west and the platforms were where the green stone crusher is on the right. The junction was west facing with the line heading to Pennington and Leigh.
