Tynemouth

First 555 impressions: I let three conventional Metro units go by, anticipating a Class 555 known to be operating. Reward came with the arrival of 555021 at Tynemouth. As we were heading to Cullercoats and this train was for St James we took the opportunity of a longer first 555 ride with a return trip to the terminus. First impressions: much smoother ride and better acceleration as expected, tempered by the loss of the front window seats. Upside of this is a spacious cab, which must be welcomed by drivers. Jury still out on use of longitudinal seating throughout the 5-car unit.
