The return of steam to the West Highlands on the last weekend of May 1984 included an incident-filled run on the Mallaig extension by preserved NBR 0-6-0 ‘Maude’. The trip was cut short at Arisaig and the climb from Loch Eilt on the return journey proved a tricky proposition, the locomotive stalling and having to reverse back down the hill on at least two occasions. This shot shows the train alongside Loch Eilt as ‘Maude’ gets going again for another attempt at the climb, possibly the eventual successful one shown in image 93064.
