Montevideo Central General Artigas
The principal station in the Uruguayan capital was Montevideo Central General Artigas. Railways in Uruguay have declined dramatically in recent years and this Italian style terminus, opened in 1897, closed in March 2003. Its history and style is recognised however and it appears to have protected status now. The line was cut back 500 metres to a small two platform halt but that too appears to have closed now.
