Haydock Branch Junction
Looking towards St. Helens Central, from the overbridge near Haydock Branch Junction in February 2023. This train of Shap stone, that has been tripped from Tuebrook Sidings at Edge Hill, is about to be reversed into nearby Edge Green stone terminal by GBRf 66762. The track finishes just beyond the locomotive but was at one time a branch line from Lowton St Marys to the GCR outpost of St Helens Central, although regular passenger trains ceased in 1952.
