Bow Church

Seen from a TfL bus on route 25 to Ilford, the entrance to the DLR's Bow Church station, on the south side of Bow Road, that opened in 1987 with the first two sections of the system. This is on the course of the Bow to Poplar section of the former North London Railway line that closed after war damage in 1944 but remained as a freight line to the docks until the 1970s. The NLR's original grandiose station of 1850 was directly opposite on the north side of the road but, after standing derelict for many years, has now been completely demolished.
