Hay Fell Signal Box
390040 is heading for Glasgow as it winds through the Westmoreland hills above Oxenholme on 29th March 2023. Immediately in front of the train is the site of Hay Fell Signal Box, closed in 1949 and replaced by intermediate block signals that lasted until electrification. The sinuous nature of the line can be seen behind the train as the line towards Oxenholme reappears in the picture.
