Rickmansworth

LU S8 stock, Metropolitan Line from Chesham to Baker Street calling at Rickmansworth, looking back north, on Sunday, 12th March 2023. This station opened on 1st September 1887 with the extension from Pinner before further extension to Chesham on 8th July 1889. Electrification reached here on 5th January 1925 and Rickmansworth remained the changeover point from electric to steam until it was carried on to Amersham and Chesham on 10th September 1961 when Metropolitan Line trains beyond Amersham were withdrawn. The Amersham to Aylesbury section is now served by Chiltern Line trains from Marylebone, which also call at the TfL-owned stations of Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and Chalfont & Latimer.
