Bank Hall Colliery

This is the point where the single track Bank Hall colliery branch fanned out into several reception sidings alongside the River Brun. This large pit sent coal out to Lancashire power stations by rail and canal until 1971. The site, now surrounded by housing, has been landscaped and there are few traces of its industrial past.
