Palace Gates Wood Green

View from a TfL route W3 bus to Northumberland Park, heading east along Station Road, Wood Green, on 10th February 2023. This is where the former GER Seven Sisters to Palace Gates branch crossed obliquely over the road by a bridge, long since demolished following the closure of the line to passengers on 7th January 1963 and to freight on 5th October 1964. A lasting reminder of this can be seen in the raised pavements either side of the roadway, which dipped down at this point to give enough headroom for buses to pass underneath. All the buildings in this scene post-date the closure of the line.
