Troon Harbour

Gary Torbett, chair of the Kilmarnock Local History Society, with Brian Whittle MSP unveiling a red wheel plaque with a flag bearing Troon's coat of arms at the Harbour Bar, formerly the Portland Arms Hotel. This commemorates the Kilmarnock and Troon Railway of 1812, a plateway that was later converted to full railway status and survives as the Kilmarnock to Troon line to this day. The hotel is south east of the harbour, close to the former Templehill Junction and Troon locomotive shed.
