Dovehouses Bridge 161 [LC]
It is at least eighty years since a canal boat turned round in the winding hole at Dovehouses. The canal north of Tewitfield closed in 1942 and several points were culverted in the 1960s for the M6 Motorway build. Just beyond here the waterway turns west through Crooklands before striking northwards again towards Kendal.
