Faslane Port

Looking across the Gareloch in 1957 with an aircraft carrier to the left and a battleship on the right, anchored awaiting their fate. On the far side of the loch to the right is Faslane Port which at this time was being used by Shipbreaking Industries to dismantle both ex-Royal Navy and also merchant ships. Also in the sidings of the former No.1 Military Port were a number of railway locomotives and wagons which had been purchased from BR for scrapping. Photo by A McIntyre.
