Burscough Bridge

At first glance an unremarkable picture, but it was snapped from a Sprinter heading for Ormskirk as it crossed the Wigan to Southport line on 10th August 2022. The nearer train is heading for Wigan, while in the distance another is calling at Burscough Bridge. There are recurring plans to divert the trains from Preston round a reopened north to west curve, and extend Ormskirk EMUs round a reopened south to west curve, to make Burscough Bridge a very good interchange point between the three lines. See image 78118. It remains to be seen if this will come to fruition but it seems more logical than some other recent reopening proposals.
