Fareham

Unit 1118, from the aptly named 'Thumper' DEMU class, is taking the left hand
(Southampton) route as it leaves Fareham on 11 June 1962. The middle route was the direct line to Eastleigh, and the right hand route was the Meon Valley line. A landslide occurred on the Eastleigh line later in the 1960s, the solution to which was to close it and use the Meon Valley line as far as Knowle Halt, where it was possible to make an onward connection with the original line to Eastleigh.
