Glencorse

In 1877 the EL&R was extended 2 miles beyond Roslin to reach a new passenger terminus at Glencorse (Glencross for the first 5 months) with lines running beyond to serve local coal mining and a gasworks. The station closed in 1930 and the line back to Roslin in 1959. Few signs of the railway remain, with most of the site, including the goods yard, subsequently landscaped, while the north end is now occupied by this secure MoD car park serving the adjacent Glencorse Barracks. A short section of platform survives beyond the verge on the left (32792) while the old goods crane pivot still stands to the south (32804).
