Pitmuxton Siding

A Gibb and Hay plan of the City of Aberdeen from 1883 prepared for a Post Office Directory showing the location of the siding which served the Ruthrieston Brick Works; as it was situated on that Estate it was known as the Pitmuxton Siding. The Deeside Railway by then part of the Great North of Scotland Railway was in the process of having a second track added. The Brick Works were closed in that year and the siding was probably removed at the same time.
The district name Pitmuxton does seem to have survived well beyond 1850 as attested by address entries in the Aberdeen Post Office Directories into the early years of the 20th Century.
