Bowling Junction

08226, on a mixed consist of steel carrying bogie flat wagons and 16T open wagons from Healey Mills, is about to cross Hall Lane level crossing on the Bradford avoiding line on 19th March 1981. The train is pictured shortly after turning off the main line at Bowling Junction, as it heads towards Laisterdyke Yard. The steel would be for Barratt Steel stockholders who were located on the then remaining short stub of the former line from Laisterdyke Yard to Ardsley via Drighlington and Morley. The working would have possibly travelled over the Spen Valley line to Low Moor. On the left, near to rear of the rake, there previously was a Laisterdyke facing connection into the Bowling Dye Works.
