Burnstones Viaduct

The Burnstone Viaduct spans both the A689 Alston to Brampton Road and the Thinhope Burn in the village of Knarsdale. The last train crossed here in 1976 but it is just to the north of Slaggyford so hopes are high for a return of narrow gauge services. The northernmost arch crossing the road is built in a skew design to accommodate the bend in the road, with a lengthy high wing wall to rear of view. There are four arches in the section seen beyond, that crosses the burn. See image 78687
