Silvertown

Class 345 unit on Crossrail test run from Abbey Wood to Paddington speeding along the former North Woolwich branch that the line uses here, and about to descend to pass through the revamped Connaught Tunnel, on 13th July 2021. Test trains were supposed to be running at 15 minute intervals but they seemed to come along a good deal more frequently than that. Silvertown station, which was known as Silvertown & London City Airport in its last years and reduced to a single bi-directional platform, which was on the left, has been demolished with no provision for a Crossrail station. In North Woolwich days the line could be clearly seen from adjacent roads but new walls have been built on this open air section so that Crossrail trains will be almost completely obscured, visible only from this footbridge or the top deck of a number 473 bus (north side) or number 69 bus (south side).
