Woolfold

The last train, a goods service from Tottington, ran over Woolfold Viaduct, a five arch stone structure, in 1963 and it was demolished in 1977. This left a gap in the Kirklees Trail cycle path from Greenmount to Bury but this replacement was constructed in 2012. See image 21383 showing the original bridge in 1952. Vegetation growth prevented a direct Then and Now comparison and this picture was taken from the Bury side of the Kirklees Brook in July 2021 (and doesn't do full justice to this very tall structure.)
