Kenyon Junction

Over fifty years after the last train ran on the Leigh Loop, between Kenyon Junction and Patricroft, the trackbed running north east from Kenyon Junction is still easily spotted. This view is from the B5207 overbridge in February 2021, with the old station site behind the camera. A short distance to the north of here the trackbed meets the East Lancashire Road and beyond that the A579 Atherleigh Way road, to Leigh and Atherton, has been built on the alignment, also obliterating several closed station sites.
