Slateford

A withdrawn ScotRail classic HST poking out of the birch scrub at Slateford on 12th May 2020, with a TPE Class 397 passing on a train from Manchester Airport. The power car, believed to be 43183, arrived the day before but moved on to Doncaster Works ten days later. More are set to follow, and they will be stored at Slateford until the time comes for them to go for component recovery. The sidings at Slateford were improved for carriage stabling during work in 2006 to create additional platforms which reduced overnight capacity at Waverley and Haymarket, but local residents objected to continuance of such activity, and the last use of which I am aware was to receive Class 158s which came on sublease from Northern to allow commencement of the enhanced Edinburgh-Fife-Aberdeen timetable in December 2008.
