Wilderswil

The Schynige Platte Bahn rack railway trains and Berner Oberland Bahn services run on parallel tracks for some distance after they leave Wilderswil before the little cog railway trains diverge and begin the steep climb. This view of BOB unit 313, approaching Wilderswil from Grindelwald, was taken from a SPB service that it had just overtaken on 21st June 2016. The SPB is entirely rack driven with ancient locomotives 55753 but the modern BOB trains are mainly adhesion with rack sections.
