Toddington

Merchant Navy 4-6-2 35006 arriving at Toddington with a Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway service from Broadway to Cheltenham Racecourse, on 12th May 2018. It was built at Eastleigh in December 1941 with the SR number 21C6. Spending its working life at Salisbury shed, it was withdrawn from service in August 1964 and found its way to Woodham's scrapyard at Barry where it languished until rescued in 1983. Restoration was a long drawn out affair and it was not until August 2015 that it could be steamed again, beginning passenger-carrying duties in May 2016 and is now one of the mainstays of this heritage line's fleet. The northern extension to Broadway had opened a few weeks prior to this view, even though the new Broadway station, built to the designs of the original closed in 1960 and demolished, was not fully complete.
