Strathavon Branch Junction

Possibly the only remaining intact structure on the NBR Strathavon Branch is this stone overbridge at Easter Loanrig Farm, partially obstructed on the north side where a road access has been formed on to the trackbed. Access by permission of the farmer who said that his late father remembered occasional trains on the line. The junction signal box, Strathavon Junction, was capable of being switched out from around 1921, possibly indicating a dropping off in traffic on the line even then with the box closing on 9th August 1928 suggesting final closure of the branch.
