Rawtenstall

Having completed the run-round manouevre, 80080 is now waiting to depart from Rawtenstall station with the return train to Bury Bolton Street on the East Lancashire Railway, on 5th April 2016. This is one of a batch of 155 2-6-4Ts designed by R.A. Riddles (Robert Arthur Riddles (1892-1983) and known to his friends as Robin). They were built between July 1951 and November 1956. These locomotives were a familiar sight in the London area for many years on services from Fenchurch Street to Tilbury, Southend-on-Sea and Shoeburyness prior to the electrification of the line in 1962.
