Earby

There are four bridges extant over or under the former Colne to Skipton railway trackbed over the short distance from the east end of Earby to Kelbrook. A view looking west along Barnoldswick Road at Kelbrook of the extremely wide road over bridge across the line. As can be seen the bridge has parapets that have feature panels cast into them rather than a plain bland featureless. appearance. There is an accommodation rail overbridge a short distance south of this bridge, prior to reaching Foulridge where the steel girder bridge over the Leeds - Liverpool canal was 'deemed unsafe' and removed by Lancashire County Council some 20 years ago, possibly to thwart re-opening of the line.
