Messina Maritime
The view astern as the train ferry leaves the port of Messina, on the north east coast of Sicily, to cross to Villa San Giovanni in June 2018. At their narrowest point the Strait of Messina is two miles wide but the ferry crossing route is five miles long. The coaches heading for Rome can be seen below on the train deck.
