Haltwhistle

A Class 31 hauled 3 coach train to Carlisle leaving Haltwhistle station passes the site of the turntable and yard. This area was then being used as a base for the equipment used in a ground investigation for the proposed Inner Relief Road. The idea was to build a two lane road through the old yard and squeeze it through a widened cutting next to the railway-DafT eh? A conventional by-pass was eventually built and the remains of the old yard seem to still be there but much more overgrown.
