Haigh

The morning after the night before, and just over ten hours after the line possession starting the old arch bridge is no more and the embankment has been cut back on either side. Some minor remedial work is being done on the remaining lower stone abutments to prepare them for landing the new concrete abutments and deck assembly onto them later in the day. The lattice gantry is carrying diverted S&T cables, and forming a walkway across the gap, during the duration of the 52 hour bridge replacement works timetable.
