Silkstone Common

Looking north from the boarded foot crossing along the wooden platform at the current Silkstone Common station sited between Barnsley and Penistone. This is the third station on the site, and was opened on 14 May 1983 when Huddersfield to Sheffield services were diverted away from the Deepcar route to run via Barnsley. This re-opening came 24 years after closure of the previous station in 1959. The small station car park is to left of view and a step free entrance path comes in on the right. However to give access onto the platform mid way, by the waiting shelter, a lengthy flight of steps is needed See image 54809.
