Alston

A wet day at Alston on 6 May 2006. At the platform is South Tynedale Railway No 4 Naworth [Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0DM No 4 of 1952]. This example was originally supplied to the NCB as an underground flameproof mine locomotive, suitably modified and distributed by the Huwood Mining Machinery Co of Team Valley, Gateshead. No 4 was previously employed at Horden Colliery in County Durham. The manufacturers nameplate displayed on the front of the locomotive is Huwood-Hudswell.
