Hampton-in-Arden

The original station at Hampton-in-Arden, was opened by the London & Birmingham Railway in 1838 as plain Hampton. It sat well back from the track and looked similar to a toll keeper's cottage on a turnpike road. It is several hundred yards from the current station, which replaced it in 1884. The old station building is seen here in May 2015 in use as offices. [Ref query 9917]
