Caldew Viaduct [Dentonholme South]

A northbound cement train crosses the doomed bridge over the River Caldew on the Carlisle goods lines shortly after passing through Rome Street Junction in July 1981. The Rome Street gasometer dominates the left background. Damage caused to this bridge by runaway Freightliner vehicles on 1 May 1984 led to final closure of the goods lines.
