Kipferwald

Trackwork - or should that be rackwork? There are five rack sections on the 44km branch from Visp to Zermatt, used to assist climbing and also braking going down hill. These views from the rear of a descending Glacier Express service show the start of a rack section, where the train slows to walking pace until all coaches connect with the rack, and also the complicated set of points at the passing loop at Kipferwald.
