Sheriffhall City Bypass Overbridge

Scene on the south side of the Edinburgh City Bypass on 19 June 2013, with preparatory work in progress to take the Borders Railway north under the road to reach the new Shawfair station. The tower on the left is Sheriffhall Dovecot, the converted former stair wing of a late 16th/ early 17th century manor house which once stood alongside (the majority of which was demolished in 1830). The historic structure contains gun loops in its south and east facing walls.
