Colchester

In the 1970s, apart from holiday excursions, the only regular diesel hauled train on the Colchester - Clacton line was the early morning newspaper service which ran every day except Sunday. It is seen here at 6.30am on 7th July 1979 passing under Cowdray Avenue in Colchester on its return leg. In the foreground are the points for the flyunder junction to the main line.
