Invergordon

A Class 24 shunts Invergordon goods yard in summer 1973. This sub-class with no headcode panel was an unusual sight in the Highlands. At the time Invergordon boasted an Area Manager's office controlling extensive freight business from the nearby aluminium smelter and North Sea oil-related traffic as well as domestic coal, whisky, barley, malt, steel and potatoes - up to three local freight trips between Inverness and Invergordon daily.
