Invergordon

Cement coated pipes wait to head south as a northbound passenger train pulls into Invergordon in 1974. The photographer - working as a 'Senior Railman' for BR at Invergordon during his student holidays - was in the habit of travelling home to Inverness in the rear cab of the Friday pipe train. One particular Friday afternoon, having lost track of time in his nearby lodgings, there was a rap on the door, and there stood the Invergordon signalman who announced.. ...better hurry up to the station - the pipe train's waiting for you!
