Wakefield Kirkgate

This peaceful evening scene at Wakefield Kirkgate belies the fact that there was still plenty of freight traffic through the station in 1977, and obviously still a healthy parcels traffic as testified by the many BRUTES on the platform. The view is looking east-northeast towards Normanton; the tracks curving round in the centre of the picture are from Calder Bridge Junction. For the same scene 34 years later see image 34147.
