Cardross

The remains of Cardross SB around 36 hours after the fire that had occurred late in the day on 26 April 1971. At this end of the block shelf was the train describer equipment for trains to and from Dumbarton Central SB, installed when that box was constructed at the time of the North Clyde electrification see image 22082. As Cardross SB was adjacent to the 'modern' Dumbarton SB, the train reporting codes had to be entered manually for eastbound services and these would automatically be passed to Dumbarton as the train entered their area. At the far end of the shelf was the panel that housed the 'tapper' & bell instrument for the block to Ardmore East and the rotary switches that controlled the colour light signals.
