The date is 4 January 1969, the final Saturday of scheduled passenger services over the Waverley route. The location is the site of Lyneside station (closed in 1929). The train is the 1Z10 1105 Newcastle - Edinburgh 'Waverley' special, hauled by Deltic D9002 The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. The special ran via Carlisle and Hawick, returning home on the ECML.
