Abbeyhill Junction

The Abbeyhill Loop and direct connection between Waverley and Leith
left the ECML (to the right in this picture) at Abbeyhill Junction and crossed the street called just Abbeyhill before entering Abbeyhill station. Although the line has been lifted for years the bridge over Abbeyhill survives, and is seen here on 12 February looking east. The ECML itself crosses Abbeyhill a bit further on, reducing the advantage in removing this overbridge which is perhaps why it's still there. The Junction was overlooked by the top storeys of Brand Place, a single tenement with an address of it's own, which it retains.
