Abbeyhill Junction

Back in the day these two bridges on Abbeymount each carried double tracks through Calton Tunnels into Waverley; now there is only one track through each tunnel and both of them use the bridge on the left. The bridge above me carries nothing, not even student flats. Incidentally the unusually high pavement is a result of the roadway being lowered in the 1970s to provide better headroom. Photographed incidental to my daily exercise permitted under emergency Coronavirus legislation.
