Gateshead Class 24s, 5107+5105 approaching South Pelaw Junction in the summer of 1971 with iron ore empties from Consett to Tyne Dock via Tyne Yard and Gateshead. The bracket signal controlled access to the old direct route via Washington, no longer in use as a through route by that time.
