Carnforth

A Voyager for Birmingham New Street passes Carnforth on 19 June 2010. The WCML platforms were removed prior to electrification, resulting in passengers for the north having to first go south to Lancaster. Since introduction of the Virgin VHF timetable options for connections at Lancaster have been reduced and a lengthy detour via Preston can be necessary. The original station building on the WCML up platform here remains in use today as the booking office and a number of small retail outlets. The buildings on the platform between the WCML and Furness lines have been restored and now house a refreshment room and visitor centre.
